Economics department of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College aims at all round development of our students. Department makes a constant efforts to encourage students not only in academics but also in their overall personality enhancement by organizing various events all-round the year. It organizes national and international seminars, lectures, webinars by eminent speakers and experts on contemporary economic issues.

The department organizes annual economic festival ‘Econotize’ which is one of the most popular and coveted economic events in Delhi University attracting widespread participation from colleges. Economic society ‘Ecospire’ aims at providing a wider learning experience through various activities like Mock United Nations conference simulating the ambiance of international economic forums like the WTO, IMF etc bring together students to engage in extensive and well researched discussion on burning issues. Events like panel discussions, paper presentation, extempore and economic quiz provide an opportunity for enthusiastic students to learn and interact together.

Econotise has grown in stature and popularity placing our economic society among the best in Delhi University enhancing the pioneering skill of the students through interactive participation and drawing an overwhelming response each year. It is a forum for free and informal discussions on economic issues and also encourages students to make presentations on topics of their interest. All the events of annual fest have received widespread applications and acclaim across the university and colleges. Innovative economic events like ‘News hours’ and ‘Recruiters’ have become famous and are testimony to the creative imagination of students working to devise activities that enhance interest and awareness in economics.

Department also organizes workshops, industrial visits and recreational tours as an integral part of our training in economics which would help in building overall personality and stimulating intellectual leadership among our students.

Economics department strongly believes that all its endeavorus of learning activities and events all-round the year would inculcate in our students a spirit of learning and enhances interest in economics as a subject. We believe that out-of-class interaction are indispensable for developing the necessary intuitive flow for the subject and make the undergraduate programme a holistic experience.
