Department of Commerce
The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Committee for Promotion of Financial Literacy, University of Delhi organized a workshop on “Financial Literacy: Prosperity and Wealth” on 22nd June 2023. Prominent speakers and resource persons at the workshop included Dr. R.P. Tulsian (Chairman, Committee for Promotion of Financial Literacy), Prof. Amit Kumar Singh, (Department of Commerce), and Shri Suryakant Sharma, a senior consultant at AMFI and the former DGM of SEBI.
Department Societies: In addition to classroom teaching, the department strives to educate its students holistically by exposing them to leadership and entrepreneurship through its many societies,. viz. Commerce Association, Marketing Society, 180 Degree Consulting and Ardent. This year all the four societies of the Department organized their Annual Fests under a common umbrella – COMMFEST 2024.

Established in April 2023, Arthshodh, the Research Cell of the Department strives to foster research collaboration among students across all departments of the college. One of the major achievements of the cell was to conduct an extensive all-India primary survey to assess the educational impacts of the Covid 19 pandemic. The survey was conducted online and the research findings point towards significant negative effects of the pandemic on learning outcomes and mental health of undergraduate students. Additionally, students have been conducting extensive research using macroeconomic data sets, providing exposure to pan-all India and countrywide data sets.
A series of online lectures were conducted by faculty members of our college to inculcate research skills, to develop interest and awareness about research among students, and to develop their research acumen. Details of these sessions are as follows:

The department of Environmental science at the college is responsible for teaching various courses based on environmental science at undergraduate level. Some of the activities conducted by faculty members during the year are as follows:
The Department of English organised various workshops and lecture series in which eminent personalities and outstanding orators helped the students venture into their fields with a multidisciplinary approach.
The Seminar and Conference Committee, operating under the auspices of Bricolage, the esteemed literary society of the college, proudly inaugurated its lecture series on October 11, 2024. Dr. Vikram Singh Thakur, Assistant Professor at the School of Letters, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, delivered an enlightening discourse entitled “Shakespeare and Indian Theatre.”
On November 10, 2024, the Committee organised an engaging online lecture. The esteemed speaker, Dr. Divya Dwivedi, Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, captivated audiences with her presentation titled “De-canonizing Theory, Junũn-izing Canon.” The virtual platform facilitated widespread participation, fostering intellectual exchange beyond physical boundaries.
During this academic year, the Department of History conducted various events including lectures, workshops, heritage walks, visits to many monuments of historical importance, and several competitions which helped the students to enhance their historical knowledge and widened their cultural awareness by fostering critical thinking.
Every year the history department conducts its much-awaited cultural fest, “YUGATAR”. This year it was organised on 22nd & 23rd April. The event commenced with a lecture session delivered by the distinguished archaeologist, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Manjul, Additional-Director General, ASI. Following this, several events took place concurrently, including an Open-Mic Competition, Photography Competition cum Exhibition, and a Quiz competition. On Day 2, the department organised a Heritage Walk to the Qutub Minar Complex, which was attended by around 40 students.
On 16th October 2023, the Department of Mathematics organised a talk on the topic ‘A Glimpse of India’s Achievements in Space Activities’ by Prof. Ram Krishna Sharma, Former Head of the Applied Mathematics Division at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center.
