Section for Visually Challenged Students in Library
The Shaheed Bhagat Singh College library provides following services to the visually impaired users of the library:
- Reading material for VI users- Braille books are available on the second floor of the library for the visually impaired users. The staff assists the users to access these material.
- Angel Players- The college library issues angel players (20 in no.) to the visually impaired users to record the lectures in the classrooms.
- Lexicon Book Reader- It is a book reader/reader-scanner device. It is used to scan the English language text and convert into voice to assist the VI users in reading.
- VI assistive software enabled laptops- The college library also issues laptops which are enabled with visually impaired assistive technologies/ software to help them in their study assignments. (20 in no’s).
- Membership to DU- Braille library- The Braille Library, DULS in collaboration with Equal Opportunity Cell (EOC), has been engaged in reproducing materials in accessible format for the print disabled. In view of the recent amendments in COPY RIGHT LAWS the entire collection of Audio Books and E-Text is made available online for restricted use of VISUALLY DISABLED users on DUCC IP Range. The visually impaired students and faculty members are required to register them as Braille Library member and obtain login ID and password to access these materials.
