ECO-CLUB

Eco-environment Society- Harithkram

Harithkram is the environmental society of the College. Its mission is to create environmental awareness and promote green and sustainable activities in and around the college campus. It channelizes the young and budding environmentalists through their creative ideas towards a greener world. The club was inaugurated by eminent environmentalist and writer Padmashri Sunita Narain on 7th September 2012.

The year 2013 was declared as the “International Year of Water Cooperation by United Nations and in the last academic session Shaheed Bhagat Singh College has been awarded a certificate of Achievement for the successful implementation of IYWC (International Year of Water Cooperation Programme) launched by Indian Astro biological Research Centre under the umbrella of 2013-14 Rio+21 programme.

The society celebrated its fifth Foundation day on 7 September 2016, in the presence of Ms. Gayatri Raghwa, Outreach Programme Senior Specialist – Education Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) a well-known practitioner in the field of environment education. She guided the green bhasicols in many ways to take up practically oriented environment friendly activities in their future endeavours.

Plant Adoption Programme

The fresh batch of students will be invited to join “Harithkram” – the Environment Society on the day of orientation and through the first week of college. A registration desk will be set up for this purpose. The fresher's will be encouraged to “Adopt a Plant” through an application that will also be received at the registration desk. Students will be grouped together according to the number of applications. Each group will be allotted a single plant/tree sapling that is newly planted or less than five years old within the college campus to make their efforts in caring the green.
